New Delhi: Bajaj Auto has partnered with the Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, by signing a Flexible Memorandum of Understanding (Flexi-MoU) to train youth in advanced automotive manufacturing through an industry-integrated skilling model.

The agreement enables Bajaj Auto to operate as an Industry Training Partner (ITP) under the revised Flexi-MoU Scheme introduced in June 2024.

Through this initiative, Bajaj Auto will deliver National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF)-aligned training programs at its manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra and Uttarakhand, combining classroom learning with hands-on shopfloor exposure.

In the first year of implementation, Bajaj Auto has proposed an intake of 1,000 trainees. The structured programs will run for up to 24 months and integrate academic instruction with intensive training on advanced manufacturing systems within the company’s production facilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, said:

“I welcome this partnership as an important step towards strengthening industry-linked skilling in India. Initiatives like these reflect how our skilling ecosystem is evolving to become more closely aligned with the needs of industry. When training is connected to real production environments and modern technologies, it helps young people gain practical experience and become truly job-ready.

Such collaborations play a vital role in building a strong pipeline of skilled talent for the country and will be instrumental as India moves towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and positions itself as a global hub for skilled workforce.”

The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials including Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, MSDE; Dilip Kumar, Director General, Directorate General of Training (DGT); and Sunil Kumar Gupta, Deputy Director General, DGT. They highlighted the importance of strengthening demand-driven skill development through deeper industry participation.

Other officials present included Pranav Choudhary, Director (Curriculum Development), DGT, and Hemant D. Ganjare, Director (CFI), DGT. Representing Bajaj Auto, Ravi Kyran Ramasamy, Chief HR Officer, along with other company representatives, participated in the ceremony.

The Flexi-MoU Scheme implemented by DGT under MSDE allows industries like Bajaj Auto to design customized training programs aligned with emerging technologies and sector-specific requirements while maintaining compliance with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).

The scheme mandates a minimum annual training capacity of 100 trainees and includes industry-led practical training and formative assessments. Theoretical examinations are conducted through centralized Computer-Based Tests (CBT) administered by DGT. Successful candidates receive the National Trade Certificate (NTC), enabling them to pursue apprenticeship opportunities.

Under the implementation plan, trainees under the Bajaj Auto training program will gain exposure to advanced automotive manufacturing systems including production dojos, quality control mechanisms, plant maintenance technologies, mechatronics systems, welding technologies, assembly operations, and logistics management.

All courses delivered by Bajaj Auto will be aligned with NSQF standards and implemented through a structured industry-integrated training model leveraging the company’s existing training infrastructure.

The collaboration between MSDE and Bajaj Auto aims to strengthen industry-aligned skill development in the automotive manufacturing ecosystem while improving employability and placement outcomes.

By offering real-time production exposure, the initiative is expected to create a sustainable pipeline of skilled technicians while strengthening supplier and vendor ecosystems.

The partnership also supports structured career pathways through apprenticeship programs and long-term employment opportunities for trainees.

Bajaj Auto – DGT Flexi-MoU Valid for Ten Years

As per Flexi-MoU Scheme guidelines, Industrial Training Partners such as Bajaj Auto are required to ensure placement for at least 50% of successful trainees. Companies can also utilize Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to support training costs and stipends.

Bajaj Auto has already demonstrated a strong commitment to skill development, allocating nearly 70–80% of its CSR expenditure toward skilling initiatives.

Through programs such as Bajaj Engineering Skills Training (BEST), Bajaj Manufacturing Systems (BMS), and Bajaj STEP (Service Technician Excellence Program), the company currently impacts more than 90,000 students annually across India.

The Flexi-MoU signed between DGT and Bajaj Auto will remain valid for ten years and may be extended based on performance outcomes related to enrolment, learning achievements, and placement results.
